Joomla! version: 2.5.14

Hi Tim,

I've installed a couple different captcha plugins, and set bf survey plus to use captcha on the surveys but neither captcha will show up. Then I clicked in the module on a survey that I had completed, I clicked 'view/edit results' and just below the name and email fields it says 'Error: You must install and publish Bigo Captcha plugin to use CAPTCHA!

When I looked up Bigo I found a forum post about it but the directory listing is no longer available.

I'd like to use captcha on the surveys because spambots are hitting them daily.

Please advise,
Thanks Much,
Omni

Hi Omni,
Joomla 2.5 actually comes with ReCaptcha built it, you just need to enable the plugin, set the public and private key, and set as default captcha in global config.

Bigo Captcha was only needed for older Joomla versions.

Hi Omni,
This might help with setting up ReCaptcha.

Thanks Tim,

I've got recaptcha activated, keys in place, and set in bfsurvey options. But on the surveys the captcha isn't showing, and when I submit a survey I get the error "You have entered the wrong CAPTCHA sequence. Please try again." survey is here: http://www.plantdreams.org/component/com_bfsurvey_plus/Itemid,418/catid,12/view,onepage/

Thanks!
Omni

Hi Omni,
I believe the issue here is that you are running an old version of Joomla (2.5.14), which uses an old URL to access recaptcha. Google recently changed the URL which broke ReCaptcha on lots of sites. There is a fix you can apply:
http://seepeoplesoftware.com/blog/231-joomla-recaptcha-fix.html

I would also recommend that you upgrade to the current release of Joomla which is 2.5.19. Note there have been some security fixes since 2.5.14 so it's worth updating.
